The Esther W. Couper Memorial Award

In December 2001, what was then The Family & Children’s Society established the Esther W. Couper Memorial Award for outstanding service and dedication to the children and families of our community. Mrs. Couper founded the agency in 1941 and her legacy continues on today. The agency has grown substantially since then and now provides services in five counties throughout Central New York and the Southern Tier. In 2020, the agency name was changed to Family & Children’s Counseling Services following a merger with Family Counseling Services of Cortland County. This award will be given yearly at the annual meeting. It will recognize an individual, regardless of their position or status, who exemplifies, as Mrs. Couper did, commitment and dedication to our community. Nominees may be an individual from any community organization or service who has impacted the lives of those in need.
