FCCS actively participates in the National Health Service Corp (NHSC) program that provides scholarships and loan repayment programs for social workers, psychiatric nurse practitioners and other professional staff who agree to work in areas where there are significant health professional shortages.
Participation in the program helps our agency recruit healthcare professionals into the region resulting in increased access to quality health care. Historically, Central New York and the Southern Tier have experienced a shortage of behavioral health professionals for some time now and the NHSC program is helping to address that issue.
Recently, Juana Rodriguez, a representative of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), conducted a site visit at our Cortland clinic and reviewed all our documentation related to the NHSC program and the clinical staff who are participating in the program.

We are pleased to share that our agency met all the NHSC program requirements! “The site provided all required documentation, data and information demonstrating they continue to meet the needs of their community and all terms of the NHSC Site Agreement and requirements,” wrote Ms. Rodriguez.
