Last week the Cortland staff broke out their crock pots for a chili cook off!  With spoons and bowls in hand we enjoyed tasting all the different versions from all the mystery cooks.  Some more classic in flavor including that flame red pot of chili that many knew would bring out the Tums and Pepsid later that day.

But many chefs tossed in something unique for the taste buds. Bacon?  Yes, there were clearly lovely pieces of bacon swimming around in that bowl of chili.  Sweet yellow peppers added a subtle note to another pot of chili.  The heavy aroma of cumin was delightfully wafting from one crock pot.

Some thicker some thinner.  Most based on ground meat but someone dared to tempt the voters with tasty bits of steak in their chili.  Then there was that bold move with a crock full of Buffalo chicken chili with blue cheese crumbles for topping.

Regardless of the recipe, we are grateful to our co-workers who turned a cold winter afternoon into a delightful lunch of tasty chili.  They were all certainly delicious but after the votes were tallied that Buffalo chicken chili took the top prize!  Congratulations to Tristen Turkow who now has “People’s Choice” bragging rights for her delicious and unique recipe!
